Frequently asked questions

WHO ORGANISES THE FESTIVAL?

The Dickensian Festival is organised by an independent local group of volunteers on a non-profit making basis; it is self-funded with money raised from our official Dickensian mulled wine stalls and rental from stall pitches over the weekend.

HOW DO I VOLUNTEER TO HELP?

Contact Michelle via email on michelle@pure-fashion.co.uk

DOES EVERYONE WEAR COSTUMES?

No. Not everyone, but of course the more people who get into the Dickensian spirit the better the atmosphere.

CAN I GET TO ULVERSTON BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT?

Yes you can. The train station is a five minute walk from the town centre. There are regular bus services to the town from Barrow, Kendal, and the surrounding area.

WHERE CAN I PARK?

There are public car parks in the town centre along with park & ride services and "pop up" car parks that are advertised nearer the time of the event. Theatre Street car park is closed for the event, but all other car parks are open as normal. See the Town Map page for town centre car park locations, or visit the Ulverston News website for a downloadable PDF map.

WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE?

Check the weather forecast before you come out. Ulverston is on a peninsula, and the weather can change quickly. Probably safe to assume that it will be cold, wet and windy at some point over the weekend. Anything better is a bonus.
